In January 2020, SenseTime established its AI Ethics and Governance Committee to support the company's strategic development. The committee focuses on the integration of AI's technical and social attributes, anticipates social issues that may emerge from AI technologies and products, and helps prevent and address ethical risks during company and industry development.

As SenseTime's primary responsible body for ethics-related matters, the committee leads work including principle setting, awareness building, and the implementation of AI ethics measures. It defines SenseTime's goals, policies, guidelines, and execution measures in AI ethics, and promotes the company's sustainable AI strategy. One core responsibility is to advance ethics reviews across SenseTime product lines from the perspectives of algorithms, data, and social impact.

The committee is composed of both internal and external members, and is supported by a secretariat, an executive working group, and an advisory committee. Internal members are senior leaders from departments closely related to ethics and governance. External members are experienced experts from academia, technology companies, or third-party think tanks, nominated by the Board of Directors or by at least two internal members. The secretariat supports daily operations, while the executive working group and expert advisory group provide cross-functional and professional support.
